We have cleared brush and dug a french drain trench. We prepared and completed the french drain. We placed gravel and sand in the depression for good drainage, and layered sand for a smooth surface. We have sowed grass seed. Measurements have been taken for the uprights and benches.
Completed on March 15, 2008 - Rake the fall leaves from the circle. Hand pick leaves from the center (more of that to go). Dug post holes. Cut and placed upright posts. Poured sack crete. Ran line for leveling around posts.
Leveled and trimmed uprights. Cut benches and screwed into place. Water treating with Olympic Water Seal still to go. (Soil samples were tested and a fertilizer was used to improve growth of the grass seed.) Additional grass seed will be needed!
March 15, 2008...
We had to rake the fall leaves off the top (gently).
We spent some time hand picking leaves from the center.
We switched to digging post holes and setting the uprights.
Nathan multi-tasking...
O'Brian helped all afternoon! Some of the scouts on-site helped when they could.
